Blue Window

13 02 2007

This is the first in the prep work for a series I plan to do that incorporates Stained Glass as a visual theme. I’ve put a nearly silent watermark in the image, let me know if it manages to distract you!

If you like this design and want to purchase it in stained glass form, please contact me for pricing information as this will need to be a special order.

Candy

wallpaper pink and gold candy strands

Candy Wallpaper: Pink and gold strands of candy twirled into a vortex. The colors of this were inspired by Mon Cheri candies, but obviously this bears no resemblance to the original. I rendered this entirely in Photoshop. It’s rather easy, in fact.

  1. Filter - Render - Clouds
  2. Filter - Pixelate - Mezzotint. For type, choose Medium strokes (or short or long, you can play around with this)
  3. Filter - Blur - Motion Blur. For angle, put 0. For distance, play around with the value until you get something that looks interesting. I have no idea what I used for the above, porbably around 60.
  4. Filter - Blur - Radial Blur. Choose 100%, Zoom, Best.
  5. Filter - Noise - Dust & Scratches. Probably only need to use 2 and 0, but play with this until the noise is gone.
  6. Duplicate layer.
  7. Filter - Distort - Twirl. Enter 100 for the bottom layer, -100 for the top.
  8. Change the top layer to lighten.
  9. With the top layer selected, press Ctrl-U and select colorize, and then adjust the sliders to a color of your liking.
  10. Repeat the last step for the bottom layer.
  11. Shift-Ctrl-E to merge all visible layers.
  12. Ctrl-J to duplicate the combined layer.
  13. Set the top layer to Overlay.
  14. That’s it!

Gnome

20 12 2006

This gnome has been working hard (or hardly working) in my yard for years. He’s starting to look a little worse for wear.

Ladybug

20 12 2006

This season has sent my neighborhood crawling with ladybugs. A few strays have made it indoors. I heard that means good luck for the home… or is that bad luck?
